Visit the Fairfax Museum and Visitors Center, take a historic walking tour, see the Fairfax Station Railroad Museum and stroll the streets of our historic district rich in Colonial and Civil War history.
Historic encounters at Mount Vernon
A number of unique cultural attractions are based in Fairfax County, such as some of the nation's most honored landmarks are in Fairfax County -- Mount Vernon, George Washington's Estate & Gardens, Gunston Hall home of George Mason, father of the Bill of Rights, and Sully Historic Site, the home of Richard Bland Lee.
You'll be captivated with the variety of nationally acclaimed entertainment and performing artists at Wolf Trap, America's only National Park for the Performing Arts.
And, be sure to save time to experience the world-class shopping of Tysons Corner, with over 500 shops and restaurants all within walking distance of each other.
In the midst of all this hustle and bustle, are two oasis of quiet, Mason Neck State Park and Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge. Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge was the first federal refuge established specifically for the (then endangered) Bald eagle for the protection of their nesting, feeding, and roosting habitat for the Bald eagles. Mason Neck State Park offers family friendly hiking trails, picnic areas and playgrounds.
