DIRECTIONS: From Washington take I-66 west onto US 50, east (exit 57A).  Turn left at the 1st traffic light onto Waples Mill Rd.  Proceed about 1/2 mile to the museum in the NRA Headquarters Building.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  One of the world’s finest collections of military and civilian firearms, ammunition and accessories with displays of more than 2,000 historic firearms spanning 600 years in its 15,000-sq.-foot facility. The museum's 14 galleries, located at the National Rifle Association Headquarters, trace the development of firearms and their relevance to America's heritage.

Some of America's firearms treasures are on display, including the oldest gun in America, a wheel lock musket that came over or the Mayflower, Kentucky rifles, oddities & curiosa, military arms, sporting guns, and target guns including those of Olympic gold medallists and national champions.

Famous individuals whose guns are on display include Dwight Eisenhower, Theodore Roosevelt, Annie Oakley, Buffalo Bill Cody, Napoleon, Chuck Yeager, Jesse James, Tom Selleck, & more.

PARKING:  10 wheelchair accessible parking spaces. It's better to use the designated parking area on the top of the parking complex as the entrance to the museum is adjacent on that same level.

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION:  Paved paths  accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.  Length of paths 100 ft.

ENTRANCE:  Located at rear adjacent to designated parking.  2 entry doors, 36 in. wide, open in with loop handle located 30 in. above floor.  

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  In hallway.  Doors 35 in. wide, open in.  Turns to enter.  Accessible stalls have 34 in. wide doors opening out, and handrails.  19 in. toilet seat height, 9 in. between commode and wall.  Sink height 34 in.  Wrapped pipes.  Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities, written scripts are available.

For guests with visual disabilities, there are documents in large print on non-glossy surface.

For guests with mobilty disabilities, there is a wheelchair available on request.

GIFT SHOP:  Aisles 55 in. wide.  Counters 40 in. high.  Aisles clear of temporary displays.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:   All major credit cards accepted- except DC.  Hrs:  9:30-5 daily. Free admission. Closed Christmas Day.
