GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Built in 1769 by Colonel William Harwood, Jr., signer of the Virginia Resolves, this home has experienced the ordeal of three wars. The Civil War found Endview serving as a Confederate captain's home and a hospital for the Confederacy. Restored to its 1862 appearance, The Civil War at Endview Plantation interprets rural Virginia life.

PARKING:  2 designated accessible parking spaces.  Gravel open lot.

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION:  Pressed gravel and brick.  Paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.  Length of paths 150 ft.

ENTRANCE:  Located right end of building - accessible entrance at front door.  4 exterior steps, each 7 in. high.  Handrails on left/right.  Ramps provided.  Entry door, 39 in. wide,  easily opens in with round knob handle located 33 in. above floor.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  Behind office.  Available without steps.  Doors open in.  No turns to enter.  Wheelchair accessible stalls with handrails.  19 in. toilet seat height, 15 in. between commode and wall.  Sink height 36 in.  Wrapped pipes.  Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.  Unisex or companion assisted rest rooms available.  Rest rooms identified by raised figures with pants or skirt on the door to designate men or women.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with visual disabilities:  Signs in large print, with contrasting background, printed on a non-glossy surface.

GIFT SHOP:  Not accessible.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  No credit cards @ ATM.  1st floor is only area open to persons in wheelchairs by portable lift.
