DIRECTIONS:  Exit I-77 at Rocky Gap, Rt. 61.  Turn west on 61 - travel 18 miles.  Turn right on Stower’s Lane.  Turn right on 1st gravel driveway.  6 miles east of business 19/460 & Rt. 61 in Tazewell.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Fun educational farm tours in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains for individuals and groups (school and tour bus parking). Enjoy seeing ostriches, emus, and rare and unusual chickens such as turkens and “Easter Egg” chickens. Visit our butterfly garden and demonstration strawberry and vegetable garden for guests with mobility disabilities and seniors. A fantastic place for birthday and office parties. Designated site on the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail.

PARKING:  Unmarked gravel parking lot.

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION:  Gravel and grass.  Steep grades may require assistance for persons in wheelchairs.

ENTRANCE:  To visitor center and gift shop located next to parking lot.  3 exterior steps, each 6 in. high and first step only is marked with tactile strip/color change.  2 entry doors, 36 in. wide, open in with knob handle located 40 in. above floor.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  Portable toilet, not accessible to guests with mobility disabilities.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with visual disabilities, there are hands-on exhibits such as petting Turkens and Chickens, feeling different feathers and egg shells. Also tours can be done while guests stay in their vehicles and drive to different locations on the farm.

For guests with visual disabilities, there are hands-on exhibits such as petting the chickens and ostrich chicks in season and tactually comparing the different feathers and eggs.

For guests with hearing disabilities and non-English speaking guests, interpreters are available upon prior request.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE FACILITIES:  Pop machine in gift shop.

GIFT SHOP:  Aisles 38 in. wide.  Counters 34-40 in. high.  Aisles clear of temporary displays.  Offers decorated or natural egg shells, ostrich egg jewelry, feather items, and more.

STAFF TRAINING:  Owner/operator has degree in Special Education for Visually and Multiple disabilities.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Plumes and Presents Gift Shop: 1-5, Wed.-Sat. Cash or check only. Farm tours 1-5 Fri. and Sat. Length of tour approx. 1 ½ hours. Admission fee. Other times and group tours or parties by appointment only.
