I-81 Exit 98, South on Rte 100, left on Rte 611 into Newbern, museum is on rt.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  The museum specializes in artifacts circa 1810 to 1865. The complex is a large home and several restored outbuildings including 3 log buildings. Several sections of the main house are also log. The museum features letters, documents, paintings, furniture, photos, business records and objects relevant to the new river valley and Southwest Virginia. The earliest documents of Pulaski County are stored here due to the proximity of the first county courthouse.

PARKING:  Located on street and in yard behind.

TYPES OF PATHS:  Grass, dirt/gravel driveway, concrete sidewalk to entry.

ENTRANCE:  In front.  Ramps  provided.  Doors easily opened.  Entry doors, 36 in. wide, open in with knobhandle located 36 in. above floor.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  Located 1st floor.  Door is 30 in. wide and opens out.  Turns must be made to enter.  Sink height is 32 in.  Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with  skirt on door to designate  women.  Unisex and/or companion assisted rest room available at the public rest room.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with visual disabilities, there are signs in large print. 

For guests with mobility disabilities,only the first floor is accessible to persons in wheelchairs.

GIFT SHOP:  Tables along the wall.  Clerks assist customers with special needs.  Aisles clear of temporary displays.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Admission Donation   Hours:  10:30-4:30 Tues-Sat.
