GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Experience a re-created Village based on an actual archeological site. The village carbon dated almost 800 years ago, around the year 1215 A.D. The site was carefully excavated, mapped, and documented. It has been recreated so you may experience the actual layout of the wigwams and palisade. Interpretive guides lead you in a hands-on exploration of the early living skills and skills that are still used today. Museum displays include artifacts from the site and other artifacts and replicas from not only Southwest Virginia, but also all of North America. Museum Store, picnic areas, picnic shelter, and nature trails are available.
PARKING: 5 designated accessible parking spaces. Nearby ramps well marked. RV parking.

ENTRANCE: 12 ft. wide and 4 ft. wide sidewalks.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Located first floor. Entry doors 35 in. wide. Turns to enter. Accessible stalls with 36 in. wide doors opening out. Handrails. 19 in. toilet seat height. Wrapped pipes. Accessible sink, soap dispenser, and towel dispenser. Rest rooms checked regularly for obstructions. Rest rooms identified by a raised figure with pants or a skirt to designate men or women.
MUSEUM: 2-36 in. double hung entry/exit doors. Aisle width 48 in. minimum. Display cases are 34 in. average height.
MUSEUM STORE: 36 in. entry and exit doors. Aisles 48 in. wide, and clear of temporary obstructions. Personal assistance is available.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Electric Mobility Cart and walking sticks available. 10% grade to recreated Indian Village. Benches along path to Village. Hours 9-5, 7 days a week. Admission fee charged. Group rates available. Call for information.
