GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Arts Depot building, a converted freight station, houses two galleries as well as a classroom and working studios. It also serves as the home of the Sow's Ear Press and the Appalachian Center for Poets and Writers. Visitors to the Depot can see artists at work in various mediums and enjoy rotating shows in both galleries.
PARKING: One designated accessible parking space, located in front. Nearby ramps well marked. RV parking.
TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION: Asphalt. Paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities. 10 ft. path to ramp.
ENTRANCE: At front of building, ramp on left side of building (ramp door has door bell for person inside to open door.) 2 exterior steps, each 7 1/2 in. high. Handrails on left/right. 2 entry doors, 42 in. wide, open out with handle located 36 in. above floor.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Available without steps. Doors open in. Turns to enter. Wheelchair accessible stalls are 36 in. wide, with doors opening out, and handrails. 24 in. between commode and wall. Sink height 30 in. Wrapped pipes. Accessible stall checked for obstructions. Unisex or companion assisted rest rooms available.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with visual disabilities: Signs in large print, with contrasting background, printed on a non-glossy surface.
