GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Nestled along the shores of the Potomac River, Leesylvania offers many land and water related activities including hiking, picnicking, fishing and boating. A new universally accessible fishing pier, children’s playground, boat launching facilities, boat storage area, concessions area, and a visitor center and environmental education center are available.

PARKING:  Wheelchair accessible parking spaces at visitor center, office, marina, picnic area, and marina store.  RV parking.

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND PARK/ATTRACTION:  Paved and/or stone dust.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  Located at visitor center, marina store, picnic area, and office.  Doors are 35  in. wide, and open out.  Turns must be made to enter.  Accessible stalls have 35 in. wide doors opening out and handrails.  Wheelchair accessible toilet is 19 inches high with room for a lateral transfer.  Sink height is 36 in.  Pipes are wrapped.  Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.  Roll-in shower.  Unisex or companion assisted rest rooms available.  Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with pants or skirt on door to designate men or women.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities, there are brochures to explain stops on trail.

For guests with mobility disabilities, there is fishing from the bulkhead area of the marina parking lot, near accessible parking, as well as a fishing pier in the picnic area.  Lowered drinking fountains available at office, marina store/cafe, visitor center and picnic area.

Playground: Parking spaces, asphalt connection trail, chair accessible equipment.

Fishing Pier: 3 accessible parking spaces, connection trail, concrete ramp to pier, wheelchair accessible rail space. The Potomac River has excellent largemouth bass fishing.

PICNIC AREAS:  Picnic areas have 4 tables for guests in wheelchairs,  31 in. high.  There are covered shelters.

Shelter 1, Freestone Point, is near the river and universally accessible. It is about 225 feet from the nearest restroom, 400 feet from the parking lot and 100 feet from the river. There's a large parking area near this shady shelter, which features a large grill, electricity and a water spigot.

TRAILS: Potomac Trail: Accessible grade and surfacing through picnic area along waterfront. Bushey Point Trail's one-mile accessibility has recently been improved. Both offer many scenic overlooks of the Potomac.

CONCESSIONS: The park store operates from April through October. It features a snack bar offering pizza, sandwiches, breakfast items, ice cream and cold drinks. Groceries, marine gasoline and oil, bait and tackle, t-shirts, hats and souvenirs are also available. The marina store has a boat pump-out station and bathrooms with showers.

The marina store is accessible to those with mobility disabilities.  This facility is also a snack bar.  A large deck has tables for guest with wheelchairs.  This location also has a wonderful water view of the tidal Potomac River.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  6 am to a half-hour after sunset Monday through Friday. 5 am to a half-hour after sunset on Saturday and Sunday.
