DIRECTIONS: Via George Washington Parkway, Exit Key Bridge, left at Fort Meyer Drive, stay in center lane, after under pass Fort Meyer Drive becomes Meade Street; from Meade turn left onto Marshall Drive to park entrance.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Memorial honors all Marines who have lost their lives in service to the country since 1775; while the statue depicts one of the most famous Marine WWII incidents-the raising of the flag at Mount Suribachi on the island of Iwo Jima.
Marine Corps Sunset Parades featuring the Drum and Bugle Corp and the Silent Drill Team are held Tuesday evenings, May through August, and are free.
PARKING: 3 wheelchair accessible parking spaces. RV parking. Parking at the memorial is restricted to six vehicles with handicapped parking permits on Tuesdays from 3 pm to 9 pm in June and July and from 2:30 pm to 8:30 pm on August 5 and August 12 during the Sunset parade.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS: 420 ft. from Memorial, restroom is a chemical toilet. Doors are 31 in. wide, and open out. Handrails. 18 in. between commode and wall. Checked regularly for obstructions. Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with pants or skirt on door to designate men or women. Unisex and/or companion assisted rest room available at the public rest room.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Free admission. The memorial grounds are open year-round from 6 am until midnight. All tours are by reservation only. During the summer, the US Marine Corps holds Sunset Parades at the memorial on Tuesday evenings. The memorial plaza is closed to the public from 6 pm to 9 pm on Tuesdays in June and July and from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm on August 5 and August 12.
