DIRECTIONS: Near Clarksville, 1.5 miles east on U.S. 58 east near the U.S. 15 intersection.                           

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:   Located on the John H. Kerr Reservoir, better known as Buggs Island Lake, this park is popular with anglers and boaters. Facilities include campsites, picnic areas with shelters, an amphitheater, a playground, a Wildlife Management Area and boat launching ramps.  Visitor center with displays designed by the Virginia Museum of Natural History introduces visitors to Native American culture and the indigenous Occoneechee people.

PARKING:  6 designated accessible parking spaces.  Located Visitor Center, boat ramp picnic area.  Parking space is 12 ft. wide.  Ramp nearby.  Ramps are well marked.

ENTRANCE TO CONCESSION/GIFT SHOP:  Located Visitor Center/Office.  Handrails on left/right.  Ramps are provided.  Doors easily opened.  1 entry door, 36 in. wide, open out with pull handle located 30 in. above floor. 

BATH HOUSE/REST ROOMS:  Located picnic area and visitor center.  Available without steps.  Doors are 36 in. wide, and open in.  No turns must be made to enter.  Accessible stall doors open in.  Pipes are wrapped.  Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.  Rest rooms identified by raised figures with pants or skirt on the door to designate men or women.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with visual disabilities:  Signs in large print, with contrasting background color, printed on a non-glossy surface.  

For guests with mobility disabilities: The park has one picnic shelter, parking, restroom and a universally accessible walkway.

Although motorized vehicles are not permitted on park trails, electric wheelchairs and electric scooters that meet the federal definition for wheelchairs are allowed to enable people with disabilities to use the trails.

PICNIC AREAS:  Located end of Main Park Road - East 100 yards from Visitor Center.  Picnic areas have 10 tables for guests in wheelchairs.  The aisles between the tables are 60 in.  The paths to and within the picnic areas are concrete.

GIFT SHOP:  Height of counters varies.  Aisles clear of temporary displays.

CAMPGROUNDS: Currently there are no campsites fully ADA compliant. Recent renovations improved comfort and accessibility of all campsites. All bathhouses meet ADA requirements.

BOAT LAUNCH: Boat ramp #1 provides access for visitors with disabilitis, a parking area and a walkway system.

CABINS AND LODGES: Cabins 4 and 11 and both lodges are universally accessible .Call 1-800-933-7275 for reservations.

Pontoons, single and double kayaks, and paddle-boards, including safety equipment, can be rented at the main boat ramp from Clarksville Marine Rentals, Inc. Call 434-374-2525 or 434-374-2755 to make reservations.
