GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Museum containing Indian artifact exhibit 9500 BC - 1600 AD, with revolving art exhibits.  5 acre formal gardens including arboretum, all white and all pink areas, rose garden, extensive herb garden, fountains, statuary from around the world and paved walks.  Also a gift shop with wood frame cottage that has garden related gifts, note cards, books, soaps, candles, herbs, teas, t shirts, painted glassware, potpourri and hand made jewelry.

PARKING:  1 designated accessible parking space, located to the right of the museum entrance.  Accessible parking space 8 ft. wide.  Accessible aisle 5 ft. wide.  Ramps well marked.  Parking for Gardens and Gift Shop are along Hudgins street with 1 designated accessible parking space.

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION:  Slate/mixed stone in concrete, brick and stamped concrete.  Paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.  Steep grades may require assistance for persons in wheelchairs.

ENTRANCE:  Located left off Walker Street.  4 exterior steps, each 7 in. high.  Handrails on left/right.  Ramps provided.  2 entry doors, 36 in. wide, easily open in with knob/inside and latch handle outside 36 in above floor.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  Located inside of museum building - right rear.  Available without steps.  Doors 36 in. wide, opening in.  No turns to enter.  Wheelchair accessible stalls, have 36 in. wide doors opening out and handrails.  19 in. toilet seat height, 19 in. between commode and wall.  Sink height 33 in.  Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions. 

GIFT SHOP:  Aisles 48 in. wide.  Counters 30 in. high.  Aisles clear of temporary displays.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with visual disabilities:  Signs in large print, with contrasting background, printed on a non-glossy surface.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Museum is open Mon. - Sat. 10:00 - 5:00, Sun.1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Closed on major holidays and private rentals. Admission Fee.  Free admission to members.  Gardens  open year round, 7 days a week from 9 – 5.  Garden rental is available, prices upon request.  Gift Shop is open Mon - Fri from 9 - 5.  Cash and checks are accepted by all facilities - sorry no credit cards.  Please call ahead for tour groups 804-372-0502.
