DIRECTIONS: 3 miles east of town of Appomattox on Highway 24.
PARKING: 2 wheelchair accessible parking spaces.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Site of General Robert E. Lee’s surrender to General Ulysses S. Grant.
TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION: Clay and stone/gravel.
ENTRANCE: Court House (Visitor Center)- ramp available at rear, first floor of new jail, Tavern Guest House and Tavern Kitchen (bookstore)- ramps available.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Wheelchair accessible rest rooms located in Slave Quarters (behind Tavern). Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with pants or skirt on door to designate men or women.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities, there are audiovisual programs available on first floor of Visitor Center, and a captioned documentary slide program.
For guests with visual disabilities, there are braille and large print park brochures, and a table model braille map of Village.
For guests with mobility disabilities, lowered drinking fountains are available.
GIFT SHOP: Book store has ramp at front entrance.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Living History Interpretive Program by soldiers at Clover Hill Tavern (Jun, Jul and Aug). Admission Fee. Open daily 8:30-5 , except Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year’s Day.
