The town of Pulaski is the county seat for Pulaski County. Both the town and county were named for the Revolutionatry War hero, Count Casimir Pulaski. He was a refugee from Poland who died helping to fight for American independence

New River Trail State Park extends 52 miles from the Town of Pulaski to the City of Galax along a converted Rails-to-Trails route for bicycling, horseback riding and hiking.
