MOCA is located six blocks from the Virgnia Beach oceanfront at the intersection of I-264 West and Parks Avenue. To visit MOCA, take I-264 East toward the oceanfront. Turn left at the first stoplight on to Parks Avenue. Proceed straight after the next stoplight. Directly ahead is the MOCA parking lot.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  This award-winning facility is dedicated to the presentation of contemporary art. Painting, sculpture, photography, glass, video and other visual media from international, national and regional artists are explored through regularly changing exhibitions. The Center offers a full schedule of adult and children's art classes, a unique gallery shop and educational programming throughout the year. The Center also organizes the Boardwalk Art Show, one of the oldest and largest arts shows on the East Coast, each summer along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk.

PARKING:  5 designated accessible parking spaces located in front of center.  Accessible aisle 12 ft. wide.

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION:  Sidewalks and tile.  Paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.

ENTRANCE:  Located front of lobby.  2 entry doors, 70 in. wide, open out   with pull/push handle located 37 in. above floor.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  Located off lobby area to right.   Doors 35 in. wide, open out.  Turns to enter.  Accessible stalls have 35 in. wide doors opening out, and handrails.  19 in. toilet seat height, 10 in. between commode and wall.  Sink height 32 in.  Wrapped pipes.  Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with pants or skirt on door to designate men or women.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities, written scripts are available.

For guests with visual disabilities, signs are in large print, with contrasting background. Free audio tours with IPod at Visitor Center. 

GIFT SHOP:  Aisles 35 in. wide.  Counters 40 in. high.  Aisles clear of temporary displays. The Museum Shop at MOCA has something for everyone with reasonably priced branded merchandise. Also sell Virginia artists’ work.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Admission fee.  Other charges apply according to exhibit. Ages 4 & under are free. Admission to musuem shop is free.

Exhibition hours: Closed Mondays Tuesday: 10am-9pm Wednesday - Friday: 10am-5pm Saturday & Sunday: 10am-4pm.

MOCA exhibitions are rotated out every 3-5 months.

FREE Audio tour included with admission. MOCA’s audio tours feature two unique experiences to enhance your visit to the museum. One is created for teens, by teens and guarantees to keep both teens and adults interested, engaged and entertained in the galleries. Produced by teens from the Hampton Roads schools. Adult audio tours feature a selection of artist interviews and highlights from current exhibitions. Check out an iPod at the Museum's Visitor Services Desk (valid photo id required) or download the podcast onto your own device.
