GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  The luxurious opera house is the home of the Virginia Opera, adorned by the beauty of glittering chandeliers, sweeping staircases and bistro tables where you can sip champagne and drink in the glamour.

PARKING:  6 wheelchair accessible parking spaces.  Parking lot is on right side of building.  $5 parking is available in the city-run parking lots at the Harrison Opera House for main stage Virginia Opera performances (parking regulations and reserved parking must be observed at all times). Additional free, on-street parking is also available, subject to Norfolk parking restrictions.

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION:  Concrete.  Paths  accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.  165 ft. from accessible parking to ramp.

ENTRANCE:  At front of building.  3  steps, each 6 in. high.  Handrails on left/right.  Ramps provided.  6 entry doors, 34 in. wide, easily open out with regular (non-turning) handle located 38 in. above floor.

FACILITIES:  There is increased wattage lighting in meeting areas. Non-smoking areas.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  Located on all three floors.  Doors 35 in. wide, open in.  Turns to enter.  Wheelchair accessible toilet is 19 inches high with room for a lateral transfer.   Accessible stalls have 35 in. wide doors opening in, and handrails.  Sink height 35 in. - not wheelchair accessible.  Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with pants or skirt on door to designate men or women.

ELEVATOR:  Wheelchair accessible elevator, with sound indicator, on the rt going through entrance.  Serves all levels.  Buttons in braille, raised.  Door stays open 7 seconds.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities, there are amplified audio units.    Signing interpreters available with advance notice.  Assistive Listening System.

For guests with visual disabilities, there are documents in large print on non-glossy surface.

For guests with mobility disabilities, there are thirty wheelchair-accessible seats are available at each performance. Patrons requiring wheelchair-accessible seating must make advance reservations with the box office in order for us to provide proper accommodation before the wheelchair-accessible seating sells out. For information or assistance, please call the box office at 757.623.1223 prior to performance, or see the house manager during performances.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE FACILITIES:  Located at the end of each hall.   Bar area only for drinks, 43 in. ht.

GIFT SHOP:  Aisles 43 in. wide.  Counters 38 in. high.  Aisles clear of temporary displays.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Accepted Credit Cards:  V, MC, DS and AE.  Accept personal checks drawn on a local bank.
