GENERAL DESCRIPTION: VIMS Visitor Center has eight aquaria ranging in size from 50 to 3,000 gallons and a 200-gallon touch tank with species common in our region as well as some tropical species that periodically enter the Bay on the Gulf Stream. There is also a shell collection from around the world and life-sized models of marine mammals and fishes. The Visitor Center also houses displays on current research. Self-guided tours.
PARKING: 7 designated accessible parking spaces. Accessible aisle 5 ft. wide. RV parking.
TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION: Brick and concrete paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.
ENTRANCE: At Watermen’s Hall. Automatic doors.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Available without steps. Doors 33 in. wide, open in. No turns to enter. Wheelchair accessible stalls have 35 in. wide doors opening out, and handrails. 42 in. between commode and wall. Sink height 32 in. Rest rooms identified by raised figures with pants or skirt on the door to designate men or women.

GIFT SHOP: Counters 36 in. high. Aisles clear of temporary displays.
