Across Benjamin Harrison Bridge, East on Rte 5, proceed to Charles City Courthouse. Turn right and proceed to 3rd building which houses Social Services and History Center (called Neighborhood Facility) adjacent to Charles City Courthouse at intersection of Rte 5 and 155.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Charles City County Center for Local History is a county-owned reference library and archives. The collection includes books, periodicals, microfilm, newspapers, manuscripts, maps, pictures and videos, including many rare or unique items pertaining to Charles City and the surrounding region.
Slaves, free black, white settlers, and plantation families are documented as well as civil war companies from this area. Material for approximately 15 counties and cities surrounding Charles City. Can find births, marriages and deaths in files. Staffed by volunteers who do not conduct paid genealogical research, but will perform simple research tasks in response to telephone or email queries.
PARKING: Located in front of building. Nearby ramps well marked. RV parking.
TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION: Paved sidewalks (concrete) accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.
ENTRANCE: Located front middle of building - curb cut with incline. 1 entry door, opens out with knob handle (may require assistance).
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Inside building to right down hall. Doors 32 in. wide, open in. Turns to enter men’s. Accessible stalls have 32 in. wide doors opening out, and handrails. 19 in. toilet seat height, 12 in. between commode and wall. Sink height 27 in. Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.
