GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Home of Thomas Nelson, Jr., signer, Declaration of Independence.
PARKING: Located side of road.
TYPES OF PATHS: One step onto path to house, no curb. Grass off street parking, but grass incline to avoid step to path. The paths are brick and steps to garden do have steep grades which would require assistance for persons in wheelchairs. Paths are 150 yards long.
ENTRANCE: Located back of house, 100 ft. from roadside. 10 exterior steps, each 4-7 in. in height (stair track machine). Doors easily opened. Entry doors, 43 in. wide. Steps inside lobby, located back of house. Each step is 6-7 in. high. Handrails on left.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with mobility disabilities, there is a stair track machine- available with 1 hour notice. Pictures of upstairs.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Story of American Revolution unfolds through exhibition galleries, time line walkway, film and living history. Recreated Continental Army camp and 18th-century farm. Costumed interpreters demonstrate cooking, medicine and military techniques.
PARKING: 5 wheelchair accessible parking places with 96 inch wide accessible aisles.
TYPES OF PATHS: Paved path leading to the main building. Flooring in the exhibition galleries is dense carpet (indoor-outdoor) with gradual slopes for persons using wheelchairs, walkers or canes. Theater on second floor has well marked accessible entrance with space for wheelchairs. Camp and farm are linked to gallery building with ramps and hard surface paths. Packed dirt surface within each area.
ENTRANCE: Attached to the parking lot, contains ticket counter, information desk and gift shop. Glass entry doors to museum gallery building, 36 in. wide, open out with metal hook handle located 37 in. above floor. Automatic doors on visitor service/orientation building.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Gallery area and entrance. Doors are 33 in. wide, open out. Turns to enter. Accessible stalls have 32 in. wide doors opening out and handrails. 19 in. toilet seat height, and 12 to 14 in. between commode and wall. Sink height is 31 in. Pipes are wrapped. Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions. Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with pants or skirt on door to designate men or women.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities, there are signing interpreters available with two weeks advance notice (call 888-868-7593 toll-free). Ask at visitor services to arrange an open captioned showing of film which plays in Converging on Yorktown Gallery Theatre, “A Time for Revolution”. Assistive listening devices available on request for use throughout the museum.
For guests with visual disabilities, there are hands-on exhibits, demonstrations on colonial life, military demonstrations, and an audio component in “Witnesses to Revolution” gallery. A guide will provide explanation with two weeks advance notice (call 888-868-7593 toll-free).
For guests with mobility disabilities, there is space for wheelchairs in the museum theater. Wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are lowered drinking fountains.
GIFT SHOP: Personalized customer assistance offered for anyone in need. Aisles are wide enough to accommodate manual and motorized wheelchairs. Counters are 36 inches high. Wheelchair accessible registers available.

TYPES OF PATHS: Walking trail of dirt/crushed stone path and paved path to monuments/town. The paths do have steep grades requiring assistance for persons in wheelchairs. Paths are 300 yards long.
ENTRANCE: Located to rt of parking lot. Handrails on left. Curb cuts. Automatic doors. Interior steps to overlook on roof. Handrails.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Located to right from front entrance of lobby. Doors are 35 in. wide, and open in. Turns to enter. Accessible stalls have 29 in. wide doors opening out and handrails. 12 in. between commode and wall. Sink height is 32 in. Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions. Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with pants or skirt on door to designate men or women.

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities, there are written scripts available. Closed captioning for film presentation available upon request.
For guests with visual disabilities, there are several audio cassettes throughout center; audio tape able to be rented for battlefield tour. Signs with contrasting background, printed on a non-glossy surface.
For guests with mobility disabilities, there are lowered drinking fountains.
GIFT SHOP: Aisles 26-46 in. wide. Counters 37 in. high. Clerks assist customers with special needs. Aisles clear of temporary displays.
STAFF TRAINING: All permanent employees are trained to serve guests in wheelchairs and guests with mobility, visual or hearing disabilities. Training once a year, 2 hours each session.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Hours of operation: 9-5 with extended hours in summer. Closed Christmas Day. $5 ages 17 and over, under 17 free. Golden Access Passport, a free lifetime pass to all National Parks, is available to visitors with permanent disabilities.
