GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Massanutten Resort, a skiing, golfing and waterpark destination located in Rockingham County. Massanutten Mountain is easily accessible via Interstates 81 and 64, and is served by a regional airport just a 30-minute drive from the resort.

PARKING:  1 wheelchair accessible parking space.

ENTRANCE:  At check-in facility.  Glass entry doors, 36 in. wide, open in and out with clearly marked lever handle located 36 in. above floor.   

FACILITIES:  Non-smoking rooms.  Increased wattage lighting in meeting areas.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  At guest registration, restaurant, Le Club and Conference Center.  Doors are 36 in. wide, open in and out.  Turns to enter.  Accessible stalls have 30 in. wide doors opening in and out, and handrails.  19 in. toilet seat height, and 18 in. between commode and wall.  Sink height is 29 in.  Pipes are wrapped. 

ACCOMMODATIONS:  Some wheelchair accessible rooms offer double beds, some offer Queen-size beds, each on a frame with no obstructions beneath.  Sleep sofa available.   Unneeded furniture can be removed.  60 in. circular clear space in room and in bath.  Sill at bathroom door 3/4 in. high.  Bathroom door is 36 in. wide.  Wheelchair accessible toilet is 19 inches high with room for lateral transfer.  Grab bar in tub.  Hand-held shower heads.  Roll-in shower.  Sink is 29 in. high, pipes wrapped.  Handrail with toilet.  Some room numbers with braille, some with recessed markings.  Room phones with raised or recessed numbers.  Smoke alarm with flashing light.  Amplified phones. TTY  Room light flashes when phone rings.  Closed captioned TV.  Lever handles on doors.  Lowered closet rods, light switches, thermostat and peepholes. 

STAFF TRAINING:  Ski area and lodge staff trained through seminars and materials provided by the National Ski Area Association.  Instructors and volunteers follow the Professional Ski Instructors of America Adaptive Teaching Model and other progressions as defined by National Handicapped Sports.

RESTAURANT:  There are 38 tables for guests in wheelchairs, in two rooms.  Table height is 29 in.  Aisle width between tables is 48 in.    Restaurants at the resort are equipped with braille and large-print menus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Accepted credit cards:  V, MC, AE and DS.  Check-in 4PM, check-out 10AM.  Cable TV and pool.  All children 12 and under stay free. Guests with disabilities are encouraged to contact Concierge Services for assistance in planning their stay. 540.289.4978 info@massresort.com.

A Wireless Notification System is available from the Front Desk, on a first-come-first-served basis. Some units at the resort are equipped with audio and visual systems to accommodate guests with hearing or visual disabilities.

Guests should come prepared with any medical equipment they may need, including oxygen tanks. The resort does not have medical equipment available for rent. For names of local companies which may be able to make arrangements for equipment rental, please contact Concierge Services.
