I-81, Exit 264 onto Rte 211 West, immediate right onto Rte 305, go to end of road.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Civil War site made famous by charge of cadets from Virginia Military Institute. Farm complex, walking trails and museum.
PARKING: 2 wheelchair accessible parking spaces.
TYPES OF PATHS: Concrete, blacktop, and grass. 1-1/2 mile path of battlefield.
ENTRANCE: Front of parking area, one curb step. Entry doors, 35-70 in. wide, easily open out with vertical handle located 33 in. above floor. Interior steps in lobby, in Virginia Room. 17 steps to lower level, which can be viewed from main level. Handrails. Long ramp with rails to higher level. Personnel will assist guest outside to back entrance to reach lower level.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Wheelchair accessible toilet is 19 inches high with room for lateral transfer. Unisex and/or companion assisted rest room available at the public rest room.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with visual disabilities, there are documents in large print on non-glossy surface.
GIFT SHOP: Aisles 41 in. wide. Counters 24 in. high. Clerks assist customers with special needs. Aisles clear of temporary displays.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Accepted credit cards MC and V. Admission fee for museum and battlefield. Open 9-5 daily. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
