DIRECTIONS: Take the I-495 South, Capital Beltway ramp towards Richmond and Alexandria.  Take  I-95 South exit 4C towards Richmond.  Exit at 166A towards Newington/Fort Belvoir.  Merge onto Fairfax County Parkway.  Turn right. onto Telegraph Rd.  Turn right. onto Richmond Highway.  Make immediate left turn into the Pohick Church property.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Attended by George Washington and George Mason, Pohick Episcopal Church was completed in 1774 from plans drawn by Washington himself. The church was heavily damaged during the Civil War and has since undergone a series of renovations. Today, soldier graffiti remains visible on its sandstone walls.

PARKING:  8 designated accessible parking spaces.  Located church entry and education entry.  Nearby ramps well marked.  RV parking.

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION:  Brick and pavement.

ENTRANCE:  Sanctuary entrance on main floor.  4 exterior steps, each 8 in. high.  Handrails on left/right.  Ramps provided.  1 entry doors, 40 in. wide, open in/out with knob handle located 32 in. above floor.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:   Education Building.  Doors 36 in. wide, open in.  Turns to enter.  Handrails.  19  in. toilet seat height. 10 in. between commode and wall.  Sink height 34 in.  Wrapped pipes.  Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.  Unisex or companion assisted rest rooms available.

GIFT SHOP: Located in the rear of the Vestry House, just to the East of the church, the Golden Dove Gift Shop has a variety of items for all ages that are unique, affordable and many made in the USA, plus Pohick-specific gifts – apple butter and cookbooks, Pohick photos, note cards, tea canisters, and porcelain mugs. Special handmade bags and figurines plus and other items from the Holy Land are also for sale in the shop. Proceeds benefit the outreach of the parish. It is run entirely by volunteers.

Open: School Year Hours: Sundays: 8:15-9 AM & 10:15-11:15 AM (before & after the 9 AM service); Summer Hours Sundays: 8:45-10 AM & 11:20 AM - Noon (before & after 10 AM service)

First Saturday of each month 12:45-3 PM (before & after docent tours).

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities written scripts are available.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Church tours are held the first Saturday of each month 12:45-3 PM. Church Sunday services Labor Day - May: 7:45 am, 9, and 11:15. June-Labor Day 8 & 10 am.; Weekday services: Wed. 7:30 pm and Sat. 8-9 am.
