GENERAL DESCRIPTION: State-of-the-art boat launch on the Potomac River, with hiking, fishing, picnicking and more.
PARKING: Wheelchair accessible parking spaces at visitor center, office, marina, picnic area, and marina store. RV parking.
TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND PARK/ATTRACTION: Paved and/or stone dust.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Located at visitor center, marina store, picnic area, and office. Doors are 35 in. wide, and open out. Turns must be made to enter. Accessible stalls have 35 in. wide doors opening out and handrails. Wheelchair accessible toilet is 19 inches high with room for a lateral transfer. Sink height is 36 in. Pipes are wrapped. Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions. Roll-in shower. Unisex or companion assisted rest rooms available. Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with pants or skirt on door to designate men or women.
PUBLIC TELEPHONE: Wheelchair accessible phone at marina store and picnic area.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities, there are brochures to explain stops on trail.
For guests with mobility disabilities, there is fishing from the bulkhead area of the marina parking lot, near accessible parking, as well as a fishing pier in the picnic area. Lowered drinking fountains available at office, marina store/cafe, visitor center and picnic area.
PICNIC AREAS: Picnic areas have 4 tables for guests in wheelchairs, 31 in. high. There are covered shelters.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Parking fee. The marina store is accessible to those with mobility disabilities. This facility is also a snack bar. A large deck has tables for guest with wheelchairs. This location also has a wonderful water view of the tidal Potomac River.

Directions: I-95 to Lorton (exit 163), left on Lorton Road, immediately right on Gunston Cove Road to Rte. 1, cross onto Gunston Road, 6-1/4 miles to Great Marsh Trail on right.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Hiking trails, teacher workshops and environmental education. Forests, bald eagles.
PARKING: 2 designated accessible parking spaces, located by trail head. Parking lot holds 8 cars. Accessible parking space 10 ft. wide. Accessible aisle 4 ft. wide.
TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION: Compacted gravel (asphalting soon) paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities. Length of paths 3/4 miles.
ENTRANCE: Kiosk at Trail Head.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Portalets. Available without steps. Doors 36 in. wide, open out. No turns to enter. Wheelchair accessible stalls have 36 in. wide doors opening out, and handrails. 19 in. toilet seat height, 6 in. between commode and wall. Unisex or companion assisted rest rooms available.

For guests with visual disabilities: Signs with contrasting background, printed on a non-glossy surface.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Site is National Wildlife Refuge to protect bald eagles and other migratory species of birds, mostly forested with trails leading to marsh view. (can be cold and windy in winter). No fees for use. Open day light hours year round. Big upgrade scheduled late summer/early fall to all asphalt surface. Pets welcome on leash.

Directions: I-95 to exit 160 (rte 123), rte 123 East to Rte. 1, right/ South on rte. 1 to next light, left onto Dawson Beach Road, Refuge at end of road.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: National Wildlife Refuge features grasslands and wetlands with hiking trails and wildlife drive. Over 350 species of birds and animals, wildlife observation and photography.
PARKING: Designated accessible parking spaces, located on site at center of property - Trail Head. Lot holds 100 cars. Accessible parking space 10 ft. wide. Accessible aisle 4 ft. wide. RV parking.
TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION: Compacted dirt and stone paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities. Length of paths 2 miles.
ENTRANCE: Located front gate and contact station. Ramps provided. Doors easily opened. 1 entry door, 36 in. wide, open out with pell large plate handle located 36 in. above floor. Glass doors have handles clearly marked in contrasting color.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Located main parking lot. Available without steps. Doors 36 in. wide, open out. No turns to enter. Wheelchair accessible stalls have 36 in. wide doors opening out, and handrails. 19 in. toilet seat height, 6 in. between commode and wall. Portalets are accessibly designed. Unisex or companion assisted rest rooms available.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: No pets - only working assistance animals with kit & identification. Hours currently: Sat 7 AM - 3 PM, Sun Noon - Sunset or 1:30 PM - 8:30 PM if sunset is 8 PM or later. Wildlife Drive will open mid summer. Fees $2 vehicle or Golden Access Permit or Duck Stamp. Bugs/flies bad in late spring.
