GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Pontoon boat rides, fishing, swimming and hiking at one of Virginia’s most popular lakes.
PARKING: 20 wheelchair accessible parking spaces.
TYPES OF PATHS: Concrete to restrooms, visitor center, beach and snack bar. Asphalt to fishing pond including access to fishing platforms.
ENTRANCE TO VISITOR CENTER: Handrails on rt. Entry doors open in with knob.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Next to visitor center. Screen door opens out and regular door opens in. Turns to enter. Accessible stall doors open in and handrails. 19 in. toilet seat height. Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.
PUBLIC TELEPHONE: Wheelchair accessible phone. Amplified phone. TTY.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with visual disabilities, there are tactile exhibits such as touch table with animal pelts and nature items, and signs with contrasting background printed on a non-glossy surface.
For guests with mobility disabilities, there are lowered drinking fountains.
PICNIC AREAS: Located waterfront and Shelter #1. Covered shelters.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Open 8 AM to dusk. Beach and snack bar have restricted hours and are open seasonally. Beach fees apply. No park admission fee for vehicles with handicapped tags.
Additional picnic shelter with cement floor, and two ADA rated playground units w/asphalt paths have been constructed.
