PARKING: 1 wheelchair accessible parking space.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Historic elementary school built 1873.  Oldest 2 story public school in Fairfax County.  Museum features local history, exhibits highlighting the Civil War, the structure, and the city.

PARKING:  Accessible parking at side of property.  Ramps well marked.

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION:  Concrete pavement.  Paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.  Steep grades may require assistance for persons in wheelchairs.  Length of paths 140 - 180 ft.

ENTRANCE:  Located in front.  2 exterior steps, each 7 in. high.  Handrails on left.  Ramps provided.  1 entry door, 34 in. wide, easily opens out with pull handle located 28 in. above floor.  2 steps inside lobby, located rear of lobby.  Each step 8 in. high and marked with tactile strip/color change.  Handrails on left/right.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:   At level M with elevator.  Doors 35 in. wide, open out.  No turns to enter.  19 in. toilet seat height.  Sink height 32 in.  Rest rooms are identified by a raised figure with pants or skirt on door to designate men or women.

ELEVATOR:   Wheelchair accessible elevator with sound indicator serves 1st floor lobby, M and 2nd floor.  Buttons in braille.  

PUBLIC TELEPHONE:  In reception area.  

SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with visual disabilities, there are signs on non-glossy surfaces. 

GIFT SHOP:  Book shelves only.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Free admission.  Hours 9-5 daily.  Closed New Years Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

From Washington take I-66 west onto US 50, east (exit 57A).  Turn left at the 1st traffic light onto Waples Mill Rd.  Proceed about 1/2 mile to the museum in the NRA Headquarters Building.

PARKING:  10 wheelchair accessible parking spaces.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  One of the world’s finest collections of military and civilian firearms, ammunition and accessories.

PARKING:  At rear of building.

ENTRANCE:  Located at rear adjacent to designated parking.  2 entry doors, 36 in. wide, open in with loop handle located 30 in. above floor.  

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  In hallway.  Doors 35 in. wide, open in.  Turns to enter.  Accessible stalls have 34 in. wide doors opening out, and handrails.  19 in. toilet seat height, 9 in. between commode and wall.  Sink height 34 in.  Wrapped pipes.  Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions.

GIFT SHOP:  Aisles 55 in. wide.  Counters 40 in. high.  Aisles clear of temporary displays.
