GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 61 acre municipal park, features award- winning accessible nature trail, tennis and basketball courts, ball fields, playgrounds, picnic shelters, fishing docks and other facilities to accommodate persons with different disabilities.
PARKING: Paved lots located near restrooms, concession stand and community building. RV parking. No overnight parking.
TYPES OF PATHS: Concrete or asphalt paths do not have steep grades. Trails are 1/2 mile long.
ENTRANCE TO VISITOR CENTER: Located at community building. Entry doors, 35 in. wide, easily open out with bar handle located 36 in. above floor.
PUBLIC REST ROOMS: At community building and concession stand. Doors are 36 in. wide, open in. Turns to enter. Accessible stalls have handrails. 19 in. toilet seat height, 14 in. between commode and wall. Sink height 29 in. Accessible stall checked for obstructions.
SPECIAL SERVICES:
For guests with hearing disabilities,there are written scripts.
For guests with visual disabilities, there are audio cassettes and portable tape recorders, and documents in large print on non-glossy surface. Tactile exhibits such as signage are on nature trails.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS: Exercise facilities on trail. Narratives cover flora and fauna found on trail.
PICNIC AREAS: Near lake. Areas have 4 tables for guests in wheelchairs, 28 in. high. The aisles between the tables are 60-72 in. The paths to and within the picnic areas are asphalt. Covered shelters.
Additional covered picnic pavilion adjacent to bathrooms, concession stand, and parking. Holds 220, with 6 picnic tables for guests in wheelchairs. Electricity available. Concrete paths to shelter.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Open dawn to dark. The community center has classes and programs. Facility has extensive lighted drive-through holiday displays 5:30-10 PM throughout December. The nearby Elks National Home is a holiday tradition for central and western Virginia. Displays with over 18,000 lights, mid Dec to Dec 31st.

Directions: Located at the interchange of VA State rte 460 bypass and 122 in the city of Bedford. Approximately 30 miles from both Roanoke and Lynchburg, VA.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: A 9 acre outdoor monument created to honor the valor, fidelity and sacrifice of the Allied Armed Forces on D-Day, June 6, 1944. A 49,000 square foot education center will be built in coming years.
PARKING: 16 designated accessible parking spaces, located beside entry to Victory Plaza and Southern Middle Plaza. Accessible parking space 8 ft. wide. Accessible aisle 4 ft. wide. Nearby ramps well marked. RV parking.
TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION: Concrete with some slopes which may require assistance for guests in wheelchairs.

PUBLIC REST ROOMS: Located southern most portion of Middle Plaza, beneath Victory Plaza. Available without steps. Doors 36 in. wide, open out. Turns to enter. Wheelchair accessible stalls have 36 in. wide doors opening in, and handrails. 19 in. toilet seat height, 36 in. between commode and wall. Sink height 36 in. Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions. Unisex or companion assisted rest rooms available. Rest rooms identified by raised figures with pants or skirt on the door to designate men or women.
PUBLIC TELEPHONE: Accessible phones located in Victory Plaza. Lowered phones. Numbers recessed. Amplified headsets.

DIRECTIONS: From Bedford, take Rte 460 West 1 mile, turn right onto Rte. 680 for 5 ½ miles.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
We make 25 fruit wines from fruit that we grow on the farm. Both can be tasted and purchased. Like Grandma’s Wines!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Accepted credit cards: V MC. Peaks of Otter Winery and Orchards are open Noon to 5 p.m., weekends, Jan.-March. Noon to 5 p.m. daily, April-December, and other times by chance for special events or appointment. There is no charge for wine tasting, however, you may purchase a $3 glass to taste with or use a free small plastic cup. You may even bring your own glass.
